2022 OKANAGAN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
posted Dec 28, 2021, 6:55 AM
Good morning.
I'm disappointed to inform our club members that yesterday evening we received notice that the 2022 Okanagan Regional Championships (February 4-6, 2022 in Armstrong, BC) has been cancelled due to COVID concerns.
Please see the email sent from Janet Gordon (Okanagan Region Chair);
Hi Everyone
I hope this holiday season is finding you all well.
I am writing to inform you that after much discussion it has been decided by the Okanagan Region Board in consultation with the host club that we will be canceling the upcoming competition.
With the uncertainty of the current Covid situation and the PHO we decided to err on the side of caution and safety.
The registration for the event has been suspended as of December 27, 2021.. ALL registrations will be refunded in full. The refunds will take some time but they will be done by Karelo and credited to the credit cards used for the registration payments. These refunds should be received before the end of January. If that deadline changes I will send out an update.
Please send this email to all of your club members/parents/coaches as soon as possible. The Competition website for our event will show cancelled so many parents and skaters need to be informed.
Thanks you in advance for your help in getting this important information out to your club.
Regards and Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Janet Gordon
Okanagan Region Chair and Competition Chair and
on behalf of the Okanagan Region Board of Directors
This is another challenge that our skaters will need to process. Please help them work through it and shift gears towards StarSkate assessments and working those new (and exciting) elements that we're all looking forward to.
We will still be running our planned competition simulation on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Please let me know if your skater(s) would like to participate in this so I can get to work on the schedule. It will be another good opportunity to get our programs out in front of spectators.
Thanks. Enjoy the rest of your break.

2021 WINTER WONDERLAND EXHIBITION
posted Dec 16, 2021, 11:21 AM
On Saturday, December 18, 2021, the Glengarry SC will be hosting our annual Winter Wonderland Exhibition at McLaren Park Arena. This is an opportunity for our skaters to get together and have some fun, while showcasing their programs here in town for friends and families.
9:30am - Volunteers to arrive.
10:00am - Doors for the public and skaters will open. WE WILL BE CHECKING VACCINE PASSPORTS AND ID FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS & SPECTATORS OVER THE AGE OF 12. Please have them ready at the door.
10:20am - GSC Club photo for all Star Academy, StarSkaters & CompetitiveSkaters. (Our coaching staff is also welcome to jump in the pic!) - Please have your skater in their skates & GSC club jacket, or some type of black yoga jacket, over what they are wearing for the show. As we are on a tight schedule for today, we will NOT delay the picture. If you skater misses it, that is unfortunate, but we won't wait.
10:30am - Winter Wonderland performance will begin. Skaters should wear their competition dress, tights, hair, and make-up for their solos. For the group numbers, please put overtop a Christmas sweater of any type (ugly, cute, fun, red, green, white …). For skaters who don't have a program to perform, please put on any Christmas sweater & tights that work! Skaters - please be sure to have skate guards as we need to walk outside to enter the ice.
12:00noon (approx) - After the performance, Glengarry will be hosting a Family Skate for all of our members. This is a chance to come out and have some fun with your skater and family. PLEASE NOTE - ALL SKATERS (PARENTS, UNCLES, BROTHERS, SISTERS, GRANDMAS …) WHO ARE NOT REGISTERED TO SKATE IN ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS MUST WEAR A CSA APPROVED HOCKEY HELMET. WE CAN NOT ALLOW ANY EXCEPTIONS, EVEN IF YOU ARE A WONDERFUL SKATER. GLENGARRY DOES NOT SUPPLY HELMETS FOR THIS EVENT. IF YOUR SKATERS DON'T HAVE ONE, THEY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE ICE.
Entrance is by non-perishable food item or cash donation ($5.00/suggested).
Thanks so much. We're looking forward to a great day of club fun!

This competition is part of the GSC Competition Program. After you have registered, please remember to login to the GSC website and register for the GSC Competition Program. The cost for this is $75 per event/segment, and covers all coaching fees and expenses for the competition, as well as ice time for the competition simulation held at McLaren Park Arena. Deadline for this registration is at 12:00noon the first day of the competition. Late fees will be assessed if your skater isn't registered before the cut-off.
This competition will follow Covid-19 protocols put in place by Skate Canada BC/YK. We do not yet know what those protocols will be, but all skaters, parents, and coaches will be expected to follow them.
We would love to see as many skaters as possible attend this competition. Every skater at Star1 or higher should be looking at participating. Even though Armstrong may seem far, this is considered one of our local competitions for the season, as we're not travelling to Vancouver or beyond. We had a great time seeing everyone who participated in Kamloops, and came home with many happy skaters.
If you are unsure which event(s) to register your skater for, please speak with Mr B.
Thanks.
