Volunteer Policy

Rising Stars, StarSkate and Podium Pathway Members Only

Glengarry Skating Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, managed by a board of volunteer parents, who depend on all of you, our skating parents/families/guardians, to make our club successful and continue to grow.  The combined efforts of all our members ensure the successful facilitation of our events and activities. 

It is required that every family with skaters registered in Rising Stars, StarSkate and Podium Pathway contribute volunteer hours within the posted GSC seasons.

Volunteer Credits: StarSkate and Podium Pathway families are required to complete a minimum of 20 volunteer credits.  Rising Stars families are required to complete a minimum of 10 volunteer credits.  Where families have multiple skaters, the highest skating level minimums will apply.  i.e., Where one skater is in Podium Pathway and another in Rising Stars, Podium Pathway (20) credits will be required. 

Timeframe: Credits will be logged starting in July and ending in June.

Payment in lieu: A post-dated payment ($300.00 for StarSkate and Podium Pathway skaters or $150 for Rising Stars) will be added to your initial registration invoice and processed June 30th only if the required volunteer credits have not been completed for the previous July-June period.

# of Credits: Volunteer credits will be listed on the volunteer signup page for all events and credits received will be viewable on your Glengarry account.  The value of the volunteer role is assigned by the board or committee chair.  Where the volunteer is not in the system, the hours will be logged to the skater’s account.  Volunteer hours cannot be carried over into subsequent year(s) and are non-transferable.  There is no partial option for hours or payment; the minimum number of credits is met, or the payment will be applied.

* Current GSC Board members are exempt from this policy.

 

Refund Policy

There are absolutely no refunds except for the following: first time skaters only, medical injury, or moving out of town. 

Refund will be as follows:

GSC Gift Certificate Refund = Total paid, - Skate Canada membership & insurance, - 10% admin fee, then pro-rated for amount skated.

-OR-

Refund to credit card = Total paid, - Skate Canada membership & insurance, - 20% admin fee, then pro-rated for amount skated.

 

Arrears Policy

If any GSC payment is 30 days in arrears, an electronic notice is sent to member on file asking for full payment or notice of a payment plan. Such payment plan must be reviewed and accepted by the Head Coach and/or Treasurer.

If not paid in full within 60 days, skater will not be allowed in any GSC sessions, on-ice or other.  Parents will be told not to send skater until fully paid.

If payment in full is not received within 90 days, skater will be suspended from all club events and lessons. Once paid, there will be a probationary period of 1 year where all GSC and Skate Canada fees must be pre-paid in full.  

All fees and any other debts to the club must be paid in full to be in good standing in GSC.

 

Merchandise Policy

All members are invited to make suggestions or put together a plan for team gear.

Proposals should be brought to the board.  Any club gear orders are run through our product system on the GSC website, so that all members have equal opportunity to participate and to keep financial records simple. 

This applies to all use of the Glengarry Skating Club name, abbreviation and logo.
